THE RING DOES NOT FIT If the ring does not fit many rings may be 'stretched' or 'shrunk' a size or more. Get an accurate size (visit your local jeweler) and return the ring. I will usually resize a ring at no charge. If I cannot 'stretch' or 'shrink' the ring and you specified the wrong size there will be a nominal charge to remake the ring. |

THE RING TURNS MY FINGER BLACK This problem occurs most often with sterling silver rings. The most common reason is metallic abrasion, caused by makeup on skin or clothing. Cosmetics often contain compounds harder than the jewelry itself, which wear or rub off very tiny particles. Very finely divided metal always appears black rather than metallic, so it looks like a jet-black dust. When this dust comes into contact with absorbent surfaces such as skin or clothing, it sticks, forming a black smudge. To prevent this you should try switching cosmetics. If this is not possible try removing the ring while applying cosmetics and clean your fingers with soap and water after you are finished. Another cause is actual corrosion of the metals. Gold itself does not corrode, but its primary alloys of silver or copper will do so - forming very dark chemical compounds - under moist or wet conditions. Try removing rings before using soaps, cleaning compounds or detergents, and cleaning rings frequently. If the above corrective actions do not solve the problem I'd recommend switching to 14k or 18k gold. If this does not work then try platinium. If switching to another metal is required I will credit the origional ring purchase price towards remaking the ring in the higher karet metal. |
