Blender 5xj_Half_Round_Band.py   Script   ver 1.03   April 14, 2009

Well, Yes . . . .
There are lots of ways to create rings in Blender. There are several good tutorials on the www that use the edit mode 'spin ' command.

I'm designing Blender models that have a real world connection.

The 5xj_Half_Round_Band.py script has the following variables:

  • Size( us standard)
  • Width
  • Thickness
  • Half Round Height
  • Comfort Fit Height

    The Size, Width, Half_Round_Height, Comfort_Fit_Height and Thickness variables are used with my 4x cnc milling program to cut wax and metal ring bands. (this is the real world connection)

    I define the Half_Round_Chord_Height as the ring thickness at the center of the band less the ring thickness at the edge of the band. Ring Size is US Standard. I assume all the other variables make sense.

    Future Projects. . .

  • Create and project graphics on the ring surface . . .
  • Create *.nc files (from blender script) to machine bands on a 4x cnc mill.
  • Add lights, materials, textures and camera to the script .
